Speaking on Tuesday at a press point with Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg thanked Montenegro for the important contribution it is making to the Alliance’s shared security.

“Your troops serve in NATO’s multinational battlegroup in Latvia; you also contribute to our KFOR peacekeeping mission in Kosovo; and I welcome your efforts in promoting stability in the region. All this shows your strong commitment to NATO,” he said.

The Secretary General and the Prime Minister exchanged views on the security environment in the Euro-Atlantic area. “We continue to see large and unusual concentrations of Russian forces close to Ukraine’s borders” said the Secretary General, adding that “NATO remains vigilant and we are monitoring the situation very closely.”

On the Western Balkans, the Secretary General emphasised the Alliance’s strong support to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. “NATO remains committed to our strong political dialogue and practical cooperation with Bosnia and Herzegovina and we will continue to support reform efforts of the country” underscored the Secretary General.
