In a devastating revelation, Alistair Campbell, former Press Secretary to Prime Minister Tony Blair, appears to have confirmed the suspicions of the Brussels press corps by suggesting that British MEP Nigel Farage is a Russian "asset".
Mr. Farage, who has previously referred to Vladimir Putin as the "world leader he most admires", will be very popular in the Kremlin at the moment for his undermining of European unity, should there be such a thing, and for his notable and somewhat suspicious failure to support NATO.
Kremlin propaganda outlet, RT, has referred to Farage as their favourite British politician.
Farage, whilst affecting to be a great admirer of all things relating to the First World War, has never served himself, a fact that has not been lost on those who surround him. "A complete phoney", as one former UKIP MEP describes him.
Farage is well known in the European institutions for his cynical attitude to his Parliamentary assistance allowance. The former leader of the UK Independence Party was outed by MEP Nikki Sinclaire for employing both his wife, Kirsten, and his "former" lover Annabelle Fuller simultaneously at taxpayer's expense. Fuller was replaced in Farage's affections by one Laure Ferarri, also paid by the taxpayer, then to become politically involved with former Donald Trump adviser Steve Bannon, also widely suspected of being in receipt of Moscow Geld.
Recent revelations of Farage's financial dependence on businessman Aaron Banks, which appears not to have unduly embarrassed him, may be of continuing interest to the press, who are now taking an interest in Banks' Russian wife, Ekaterina Paderina.
