President of Haiti Jovenel Moise assassinated in fake US Drugs Enforcement agent raid

It is reported that the President of Haiti Jovenel Moise, 53, has been assassinated by "gunmen claiming to be US Drugs Enforcement agents agents speaking in English and Spanish" in a night-time raid on his home that also left his wife seriously injured.

The 53-year-old was shot dead, and the First Lady Martine, 47, was left in a critical condition in what PM Claude Joseph called a "hateful, inhumane and barbaric act." Haiti's embassy in the Dominican Republic said the First Lady has since been flown to another country for treatment.

In footage purportedly recorded by a witness, someone with an American accent shouts into a megaphone: "DEA operation. Everybody stand down. DEA operation. Everybody back up, stand down."
