Iranian Strike on Israel

The United States anticipates a potential Iranian strike on Israel, which could occur on Monday, 5th August.

Reports from Axios, citing three American and Israeli officials, indicate that the potential attack may follow a similar pattern to the strike on April 13th but could be more substantial.

There is also concern that the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah might join the offensive.

The Biden administration is reportedly worried about the challenge of rallying an international and regional coalition to defend Israel, as it did during the previous incident. This difficulty stems from heightened anti-Israeli sentiments in the region, exacerbated by the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, which has sparked widespread unrest.

On August 3rd, General Michael Kurilla, the commander responsible for US forces in the region, arrived in the Middle East. Although his trip had been planned in advance, Kurilla is now focused on mobilising a coalition of allies to counter the possible Iranian threat.

American and Israeli officials have stated that it remains unclear whether Iran and Hezbollah will coordinate their actions or operate independently. They believe that both Iran and Hezbollah are still finalising their military plans, which require approval at the political level.
