Vladimir Sergienko
At its centre is Vladimir Sergienko, a pro-Russian aide to Eugen Schmidt, a deputy in the Bundestag, Native of Kazakhstan, representing the Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) party.

Sergienko, a Ukrainian-born advisor, has been unmasked as an agent of Russian intelligence, with his handler identified as Ilya Vechtomov, an officer of the Fifth Service of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB).

The intricate web of deceit stretches far and wide, with Sergienko’s role in aiding Russia’s interests within German politics coming to light.

Here are some examples of Vladimir Sergienko’s spying activities:

  • Obstruction of Military Aid to Ukraine: Leaked communications reveal that Sergienko, under Vechtomov’s direction, initiated a lawsuit aimed at halting or slowing German security assistance to Kyiv. He claimed that Chancellor Scholz had not received all necessary approvals from the Bundestag before sending Leopard 2 main battle tanks to Ukraine. This legal maneuver was designed to hinder Ukraine’s defensive efforts and delay the delivery of much-needed military aid.
  • Disinformation Campaigns and Conspiracies: Sergienko actively engaged in spreading disinformation and conspiracy theories aimed at undermining support for Ukraine and sowing discord within German politics. He propagated unfounded claims, such as Berlin plotting to assassinate Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and alleged Nazi codes hidden in military aid numbers. Such actions served to erode public trust and create confusion around Germany’s stance on the conflict in Ukraine.
  • Financial Support for Pro-Russian Organizations: Sergienko facilitated financial transactions between Russia and German non-governmental organizations (NGOs) aligned with pro-Kremlin positions. He arranged wire transfers to a German NGO and communicated with Sargis Mirzakhanian, a Russian parliamentary staffer known for funding pro-Russian resolutions in European legislatures. These financial activities aimed to bolster support for Russia’s agenda within German civil society and political circles.

But what sets this revelation apart is the surreal twist in the tale – Vechtomov, Sergienko’s handler, is not just an FSB officer but also a rapper, performing under the alias “Fox D’Liss” as part of the rap trio OSII.

This duality adds a layer of intrigue to an already complex narrative, highlighting the lengths to which Russian intelligence operatives will go to conceal their true identities and infiltrate foreign institutions.

The implications of this revelation are profound, signalling a major breach in Germany’s national security apparatus.

Sergienko’s access to privileged information within the Bundestag, coupled with his ties to Russian intelligence, poses a significant threat to Germany’s sovereignty and democratic institutions.

Furthermore, the revelation comes on the heels of another embarrassing revelation involving an FSB mole Carsten L within Germany’s Federal Intelligence Service (BND), underscoring the extent of Russian infiltration into European institutions.

As Sergienko faces the prospect of losing his German citizenship and potential legal repercussions, questions abound about the extent of Russian influence within European politics and the measures needed to counteract it.

The expose serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing threat posed by foreign adversaries to the integrity of democratic processes and national security across Europe.

In the face of such revelations, it is imperative that European governments remain proactive in safeguarding their institutions from foreign interference.

The exposure of Sergienko’s ties to Russian intelligence should serve as a wake-up call, prompting policymakers to strengthen counterintelligence measures and uphold the principles of transparency and accountability in democratic governance.

Only through collective action and unwavering determination can Europe confront the challenges posed by hostile foreign actors and preserve the integrity of its democratic institutions.
