Qatar has weighed into the Qatargate controversy by alleging that “the impact of corruption within the EU from all member states combined allegedly amounts to nearly 1,000 billion Euros, or 6.3% of its total GDP.”

The allegation was published by the Doha News on December 24th.

“The latest scandal within the European Parliament in which Qatar and Morocco are accused of corruption has evoked comments from European experts that the EU ‘should question itself’, noting that corrupt politicians and cases appear to be a feature and not a glitch within the system,” says the Doha News.

To be frank, few in the Brussels bubble would contradict the latter assertion.

However, the old adage about “when thieves fall out” comes to mind.
