Azerbaijan on Friday dispatched €5 million worth of medicines and other medical supplies to Ukraine.
The much needed supplies were set to arrive initially at the Polish city of Rzeszow before being transported overland to Ukraine.
“Ukraine has begun to receive extremely important humanitarian assistance: medicines and medical equipment are supplied to assist the victims of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation. We sincerely thank friendly Azerbaijan for the practical support of Ukraine!” Ukraine’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Vladyslav Kanevsky wrote on Twitter on Sunday.
Ukraine’s President Vladimir Zelensky tweeted confirmation of the fact, also referring to a pledge by the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) to provide fuel for Ukraine’s ambulances and firefighting appliances free of charge.
SOCAR is a major supplier of petroleum products, natural gas and aviation fuel in the country, having established its Ukrainian subsidiary SOCAR Energy Ukraine in December 2009.
In 2020, SOCAR Energy Ukraine was ranked among the TOP 25 international companies – leaders in their fields and directions in the Ukrainian market.
