CCIB Recognises Romanian Business Excellence at Bucharest Top Firms Awards

The Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIB) organized its XXXI edition of Top Firms Awards, a reference event for the business environment in the Romanian capital. The awards ceremony gathered together prominent personalities from the business sector, government and local administration representatives.

Emil Constantinescu, Former President of Romania, Terente Ciui, Secretary of state at the Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism, Rareș Burlacu, President of the Agency Romanians for Investments and Foreign Trade (ARICE), Ovidiu Silaghi, Secretary general of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania and Mihai Ionescu, President of the National Association of Exporters and Importers from Romania (ANEIR), co-president of the Export Council were present among C-level Mgures at the gala.

“Beyond the products and services chambers of commerce traditionally offer, representing the interests of the business community and our overall goals, we have taken on yet another important role, that of making known: projects, business ideas, management styles to inspire and motivate the new wave of entrepreneurs.

“For over three decades we have been awarding excellence in all its forms! Beyond rankings and methodologies, top Anancial results, we value those who want to be better tomorrow than today and have never stopped thinking outside the box”, Iuliu Stocklosa, the president of the Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry mentioned in his opening speech.

Winners were chosen from 169,495 Bucharest based Mrms in a city of about 2 million people. This large numbers stands as a proof of a vibrant business community and a large potential for economic growth providing and caring for high quality services, products and goods.

With an unemployment rate of less than 1%, Bucharest concentrates 22.3% of all active companies in Romania, 21.3% of the country’s total employees, almost 30% of the sales area and outlets retail at national level, 19% of the value of Romanian exports and 33% of the value imports made by Romania, about 60% of the country’s scientiMc research activity and 56% of the total of foreign direct investments in Romania after 1990 (about 65 billion euros).

Terente Ciui assured participants that the Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism provides support of “domestic business environment needs, strengthening capacity of implementation and evaluation of the public policies and it coordinates and does all necessary for the creation and facilitating an integrated support system in the Aeld of entrepreneurship”.

Emil Constantinescu declared “Romania can and must become an economic power” while Rareș Burlacu gave some examples of the work his agency performs in Africa and also in the USA, Japan and South Korea.

The main 2024 awards “George G. Assan” for the Romanian brand of the year went to Erbașu Constructions, while the “Ioan V. Socec” trophy was awarded to Romanian Television (TVR International) for the show “Investiti in Romania!”.

The Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIB) presented awards to both private and state owned companies.

Management and business excellence was recognised in both the private and public sectors, dispelling the outdated mentality that state owned companies do not perform so well.

CCIB via the 2024 Top Firms Awards cast in a fresh light the Bucharest business environment, sending out a positive message on meritocracy, high performance and creating value.
