Cadillac’s commitment to entering Formula 1 in 2026 is a notable development, marking the brand’s expansion into a new motorsport arena. Team principal Graham Lowdon emphasised the importance of early testing, stating that the objective is not merely to run another team’s chassis but to ensure comprehensive race preparation. He highlighted the necessity for all team members to familiarise themselves with each other and the operational procedures before the season’s commencement.

Ferrari’s involvement extends beyond supplying a chassis; the team will also provide engineers to manage the power unit and gearbox systems. Team principal Frédéric Vasseur confirmed that Ferrari would loan one of its older machines, likely the 2023 SF-23 or the 2019 SF90, for the testing. This gesture is part of Ferrari’s broader strategy to support the sport’s growth and facilitate the integration of new teams.

Driver Participation and Testing Focus

The testing session is expected to feature drivers Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Pérez. Bottas, currently contracted with Mercedes, has received approval to participate, while Pérez, a seasoned Formula 1 driver, is also slated to join the test.
