Following the impasse in negotiations and the directive given by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Director of the Mossad David Barnea has instructed his team in Doha to return to Israel, the government of Israel has announced.

The terrorist organisation Hamas did not uphold its part of the agreement, which included the release of all of the children and women according to a list that was given to Hamas and approved by it, according to a government statement.

According to the latest numbers, 137 remain in captivity.

Of those, 20 are women and 117 are men. They include 126 Israelis and 11 foreigners.

On Tuesday, The Washington Post reported that CIA director William Burns was pushing for a future truce deal that would include the release of male hostages and Israel Defense Forces personnel held captive by Hamas.

The Director of the Mossad thanked the Director of the CIA, the Egyptian Intelligence Minister and the Qatari Prime Minister for their extensive joint mediation efforts, which led to the release of 84 children and women from the Gaza Strip, along with 24 foreign nationals.

Meanwhile, U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris spoke with Amir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani of Qatar.

The Vice President thanked the Amir for his efforts in securing the deal between Israel and Hamas that provided an extended pause in the fighting which resulted in the release of more than 100 hostages, including Americans, while substantially increasing the flow of humanitarian assistance into Gaza, before the pause was violated by Hamas.
