President Zelensky noted that the visit was another important signal of Estonia’s support for Ukraine in the face of full-scale Russian aggression.

“We are grateful to the Estonian leadership and people who have been with us since the first day of this tragedy, this full-scale war.

“It is important that you have excellent relations with our Speaker and that you had a substantial amicable dialogue.

“We are very glad to see you all in Ukraine. Thank you,” the President emphasised.

Volodymyr Zelensky particularly welcomed Estonia’s initiative on a unified contribution from partners in the amount of 0.25% of GDP for military assistance to Ukraine.

During the meeting, the parties noted the historic speech of the President of Ukraine in the Riigikogu on January 11th, 2024, and discussed further comprehensive support for Ukraine from Estonia and other partners, as well as the urgent needs of Ukraine to repel the invader.

Volodymyr Zelensky thanked Estonia for its continued support of Ukraine on its path to full membership in the European Union and NATO.

The parties paid special attention to the use of frozen Russian assets for the benefit of Ukraine.

For Ukraine, it is important that Estonia is working to channel Russian assets to protect and restore life in Ukraine. In particular, the Estonian Parliament passed a bill in the first reading.

The interlocutors discussed progress in the preparation of a bilateral security agreement in pursuance of the G7 Joint Declaration.
