Controversial and somewhat enigmatic French journalist Philippe Jeune has reportedly been kidnapped by Mexican bandits during a fact-finding trip to the Mexican badlands.
His long-time friend and colleague Charles L’Soir told EU Today “he was just washing down a plate of nachos with a tequila sunrise when the bandits burst in and grabbed him. I felt like I was on the set of the High Chaparral.”
Charles added “it was very exciting at the time.”
When asked why he himself was not taken hostage, Charles told us “I suppose they will hold him for ransom. Because I am very left-wing, and I like to talk about Che Guevara and Jeremy Corbyn a lot, I guess the bandits didn’t want to be locked down with me. I am rather used to this.”
Charles was able to provide a sketch of one man, apparently the leader of the group, and police are asking for anybody who recognises the man, or who has information of his whereabouts to come forward.
The public are advised not to approach him.
It is believed the two Journalists, both of whom are contributors to EU Today, were investigating reports of a newly opened human trafficking route which brings Mexican migrants, who may be concerned about the possibility of a second Donald Trump Presidency, back into the country.
The U.S. Democrats are believed to be particularly concerned about the issue.
