An American company’s financial ties to the indicted FBI informant Alexander Smirnov have come under scrutiny, shedding light on a web of connections involving individuals associated with former President Donald Trump.

Documents unearthed from business filings and court records reveal a link between a US firm and a UK company owned by Trump business associates based in Dubai.

The focal point of this revelation is Alexander Smirnov, who stands accused of misleading the FBI regarding Hunter Biden and President Joe Biden’s purported involvement in a bribery scheme with executives from the Ukrainian energy company Burisma.

Smirnov’s accounts, dating back to 2020, have now been branded as fabrications by federal prosecutors, significantly contributing to the House impeachment inquiry into the Bidens.

Republican lawmakers, citing Smirnov as a reliable informant, have repeatedly championed his credibility.

James Comer, chairman of the House oversight committee, went as far as threatening FBI Director Christopher Wray with contempt proceedings unless a June 2020 FBI form detailing Smirnov’s claims was disclosed to the committee.

In 2020, Smirnov received $600,000 from Economic Transformation Technologies (ETT), according to prosecutors.

It is noteworthy that during the same period, Smirnov commenced his deceptive narrative to the FBI about the Bidens, as outlined in the indictment.

The CEO of ETT, Christopher Condon, also happens to be one of three shareholders in ETT Investment Holding Limited, a UK-based entity.

Notably, among the shareholders in the UK company are Shahal Khan, a Pakistani American investor, and Farooq Arjomand, a former chairman and current board member of Damac Properties in Dubai, who also serves as an adviser on ETT’s American website.

Last month, Smirnov was arrested and charged with providing false information to the FBI, leading to his detention without bail.

Prosecutors cited concerns about his potential flight risk due to his connections with Russian officials in the Middle East and his access to substantial financial resources.

The indictment against Smirnov asserts that his claims, documented in a form known as a 1023, and other statements made to his FBI handler from 2020 until December 2023, were demonstrably false.

The whole atmosphere around the infamous Burisma case was described recently by former New York mayor Rudy Guliani: “We find out that the Bidens took a $10 million bribe from a Ukrainian Mykola Zlochevsky, which I could have told you, you know, and did tell [the DOJ] three years ago. And they followed up on none of the evidence I gave them. They were hoping that people would disappear or die. It’s extraordinary”
