Israel’s military operations in Gaza continued overnight, while Palestinian armed factions in Gaza fired more rockets into Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reported.

According to a statement released by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Israeli forces “targeted a number of terror infrastructure sites in the Gaza Strip,” including “a Hamas military compound in the northern Gaza Strip.”

Benjamin NetanyahuThe statement also said that the IDF “neutralized” a number of “terror tunnels” in Gaza.

In an address delivered on Saturday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the IDF had deployed additional ground forces into Gaza and that they were “making good progress.”

“Our goal is to restore quiet and security to the citizens of Israel for a prolonged period of time,” Netanyahu said.

“To achieve this, we will continue to act with force and determination.”

The latest round of fighting between Israel and Palestinian armed groups in Gaza began on May 10th,  when Palestinian militants fired rockets at Jerusalem in response to Israeli police raids on the al-Aqsa Mosque compound.
