A 32-year-old man named as Ioan Pintaru has been charged with attempted murder following the stabbing of an 11-year-old girl in Leicester Square, London, according to a statement released by the Metropolitan Police early Tuesday.
The suspect, identified as Ioan Pintaru, who reportedly has no fixed address, has also been charged with possession of a bladed article.
The incident occurred on Monday, leaving the young girl seriously injured. While her injuries were severe, the police confirmed that they were not life-threatening.
Initially, it was reported that the girl’s 34-year-old mother had also been injured during the attack. However, upon further investigation, it was determined that the mother was not harmed; the blood found on her was from her daughter’s injuries, not her own, the police clarified on Tuesday.
