The Ukrainian Defence Forces will retaliate for Russian attacks at Ukraine’s energy facilities, warned Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine Oleksii Danilov.
The statement was made on Thursday during the United News telethon by Oleksii Danilov while he was commenting on the recent Russian missile attacks at Khmelnytskyi region, including the nuclear power plant.
“Last night’s shelling is yet another signal to the world that the war must be ended as soon as possible, and for this we need as much help as possible,’ he emphasised.
Secretary of the NSDC confirmed the words of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the preparation for possible russian shelling of our energy system. He said that such enemy attacks will not go unretaliated.
“We must retaliate for their every action, and we will do it fiercely,” assured Oleksii Danilov.
Powerful blasts near the area of Ukraine’s Khmelnytskyi nuclear power plant damaged windows at the site, but did not affect the plant’s operations or its connection to the grid, the U.N. nuclear watchdog said on Wednesday.
The explosions temporarily cut power to some off-site radiation monitoring stations, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) added.
“The fact that numerous windows at the site were destroyed shows just how close it was. Next time, we may not be so fortunate,” IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said.
