Puglia’s Fashion Week: A Gateway for Local Artisans to Access Global Markets

The Apulian Runway Experience, Puglia’s flagship Fashion Week, is set to return for its second edition from November 9 to 13, 2024. Organized by La Ditta in collaboration with CNA and endorsed by Regione Puglia, this event aims to position Puglia as a rising force in the global fashion landscape, spotlighting the region’s craftsmanship and innovative spirit.

With a long-standing tradition of artisan work, Puglia boasts over 3,600 fashion and manufacturing businesses employing more than 34,000 individuals. Often celebrated for its beautiful coastlines and historic towns, the region is also a dynamic hub for creative production. For local designers and artisans, the Apulian Runway Experience offers a critical opportunity to present their collections to an international audience while building strategic relationships with buyers, investors, and key industry stakeholders.

During the previous edition, Daniele Del Genio, President of CNA Puglia, emphasised the importance of showcasing the region’s often-overlooked manufacturing industry.

“Puglia is so much more than a holiday destination. We have a vibrant and innovative manufacturing sector that deserves global recognition,” Del Genio said, underscoring the need to elevate the region’s status within the fashion economy.

Francesca Zampano, Director of Promotion of Trade, Crafts, and Enterprise Internationalization at Regione Puglia, also highlighted the international significance of the event.

“The Apulian Runway Experience is a crucial step in establishing Puglia’s global fashion footprint. We are proud to present the craftsmanship and quality of ‘Made in Puglia’ products to the world,” Zampano remarked, reinforcing the region’s ambition to expand its reach beyond national borders.

The event will span five days, with each night dedicated to a different town in Puglia, showcasing the fusion of local heritage and contemporary design. This unique format allows attendees to experience the diverse cultural and artisanal traditions that define the region’s fashion identity. In addition, the runway shows will address major industry challenges, such as sustainability, the integration of artificial intelligence, and the evolving landscape of fashion production.

As Puglia’s Fashion Week gains momentum and secures a place on the international fashion calendar, it is poised to become a must-attend event for fashion insiders. Supported by local and national institutions, it promises to drive innovation, collaboration, and investment, setting the stage for Puglia’s continued growth in the global fashion arena.
