Sardar Nasir Aziz Khan as a Main Representative of C.D.P. addressed ongoing Human Rights Council 58th Session at Geneva. Raised human rights violations in historical State of Jammu and Kashmir, denouncing forced division, annexations, bloodshed, and destruction.
He said, in line with the Vienna Declaration and Programme of Action, “our organisation urges the United Nations to take immediate action and follow up on the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights’ reports (2018 & 2019) on Jammu and Kashmir.”
Sardar Nasir Aziz Khan highlighted the fact that despite UN resolutions and reports, the situation continues to deteriorate. Both Pakistan and India have undermined the Jammu and Kashmir State Subject Rule (1927) in the name of development and defence leading to forced demographic changes that threaten the region’s identity, stability and environment.
The forced division and annexation of Jammu and Kashmir have disrupted its political, social, and cultural fabric while violating the fundamental right to free movement. Families have been forcibly separated for over seven decades, denied the ability to reunite and interact.
The arbitrary borders imposed since 1947 continue to fuel conflict, extremism, and communal tensions.
Sardar Nasir Aziz Khan drew United Nations attention to Azad Kashmir, where extremist militant groups, armed with sophisticated weapons, operate freely, threatening women, pro-peace activists, and advocates for Kashmiri self-determination while eroding traditional Sufi practices and marginalizing secular voices.
Mr. Khan further highlighted alarming incidents include the recent attack on UKPNP Senior Vice Chairperson Madam Sardar Tania in Rawalpindi and public calls for jihad by the Azad Kashmir Prime Minister, along with extremist flag marches in Rawalakot Azad Kashmir.
The crisis is further aggravated by targeted killings of Kashmiris and abductions of Kashmiri children in Pakistan, with authorities failing to act despite clear evidence. This worsening humanitarian crisis demands immediate international intervention.
The UN should act now to end the suffering, division, and human rights violations endured by the people of Jammu and Kashmir for over seven decades.
Mr.Khan said that his organisation calls on the UN and International Community to:
• Intervene and pressure respective governments to end violations of UN resolutions and uphold human rights norms.
• Halt forced demographic and political changes across all parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
• Restore the right to free movement, allowing divided families to reunite.
• Ensure the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, as enshrined in Article 1 of the ICCPR (International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights).
• Reopen all traditional routes in Jammu and Kashmir to facilitate dialogue, reconciliation, and conflict resolution.
Excellencies, “The time to act is now,” stated Sardar Nasir Aziz Khan in his concluding remarks.
