In the so-called Azad Kashmir, preparations are underway to replace the Prime Minister for the fourth time within the current rubber stamp legislative assembly, writes Sardar Nasir Aziz Khan.
Azad Kashmir remains shackled under Pakistan’s control functioning as a deeply subjugated and deprived colony.
Even in the 21st century, this so-called Azad Kashmir is a backward region, deprived of development, political autonomy, and economic independence. By its very name, it ought to be a self-governing territory. But its reality resembles that of a person who is named “Azad” (Free) at birth, yet lives and continues to live generation after generation in bondage.
Azad Kashmir has now assumed the status of a worst case colony, where the political and economic systems are entirely controlled by Pakistan. Once again, preparations are complete to replace one puppet government with another. This will mark the fourth Prime Ministerial change during the current legislative term an alarming sign of deep political instability.

Azad Kashmir
The governing structure of so-called Azad Kashmir is purely symbolic, and its puppet rulers are powerless. This system is deeply rooted in corruption, moral decay, dead conscience, nepotism, political engineering, shifting loyalties, lotaism, and party switching.
The same few political families and figures repeatedly occupy ministries, changing allegiances not based on principles, but on the directives of their patrons. They switch parties with impunity and even boast about it shamelessly.
In Azad Jammu & Kashmir, party switching has been a recurring phenomenon, especially around election cycles or regime changes.
Key political figures have moved between parties like PML-N, PTI, PPP, MC and regional alliances, often citing development needs or ideological alignment but critics frequently point to opportunism and pressure from Islamabad or deep state linked actors.
The buying and selling of votes, and the exchange of vast sums to control political outcomes, has become routine. This entire spectacle has reduced the so-called democratic process to nothing more than a commercial transaction.
For the past 78 years, the people of Azad Kashmir have been deprived of basic facilities and , political, economic and fundamental human rights. For nearly two and a half years, they have been in a state of continuous protest. The public is no longer interested in changing faces or swapping puppets. They demand ownership of their natural resources and the right to self-governance and they will ultimately claim it.
