On 18th of May Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Belgium organised a peaceful protest in front of the Indian Embassy in Brussels against the detention of JKLF Chairman Muhammad Yaseen Malik, and against the charges made against him.
Judge Praveen Singh set May 25th for hearing arguments from both sides on sentencing, the Press Trust of India news agency reported on Thursday. The judge also directed Malik to provide an affidavit regarding his financial assets.
“Such charges are politically motivated, and we Kashmiris believe that the Indian government tries to impose such charges with the help of their courts. Kashmiris now have no faith in Indian judiciary system,” said a JKLF spokesman.
“Yaseen Malik is a well known Kashmiri leader who believes in peaceful struggle and has a dream of an independent state of Jammu Kashmir. If the Indian government makes any decision on 25th of May which might harm him Kashmiris living inside Kashmir and abroad will protest in front of Indian Embassies all over the world.”
