EBRD to provide EUR 200 million to restore Ukraine’s railways: Denys Shmyhal

The Government of Ukraine is preparing a project with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to restore the country’s railways. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal pictured).

In particular, Ukraine will receive EUR 200 million from the EBRD for Ukrzaliznytsia. The decision was approved by the Government at a meeting on May 12.

“These funds will be used to purchase equipment needed to restore railway corridors with the EU, improve passenger transport and purchase additional locomotives,” the Prime Minister said.

The Government also approved amendments to the Presidential Decree on the launch of a fundraising campaign for humanitarian de-mining under the United24 platform initiated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
