Victoria Furtună, a former anti-corruption prosecutor with 18 years of public service, has officially declared her candidacy for the Presidency of Moldova.
Known for her unwavering integrity and commitment to justice, Furtună aims to steer Moldova toward economic resilience, robust national security, and a renewed respect for traditional values.
Furtună’s Vision for Moldova.
Victoria Furtună’s campaign centres on three main pillars:
Peace and Diplomacy: Furtună emphasises the importance of peace as the foundation of her potential administration. She advocates for diplomatic strategies to shield Moldova from regional conflicts, aiming to enhance international relationships through dialogue.
Law and Order: With her extensive background in law enforcement, Furtună pledges to uphold the rule of law with a zero-tolerance approach to corruption, crime, and drug abuse. Her goal is to ensure safety and justice for all Moldovans.
Preservation of Traditions: She stresses the significance of Moldova’s traditional values, viewing them as vital cultural roots that should be respected and integrated into the nation’s development rather than discarded.
International Outreach and Domestic Engagement
In the coming months, Furtună will embark on a tour across European countries to meet with like-minded leaders. Her aim is to exchange ideas and build international alliances that align with Moldova’s strategic interests.
Furthermore, she plans to engage with Moldovan diaspora communities in Italy and Romania, highlighting her commitment to maintaining strong connections with Moldovans living abroad.
Critique of Current Leadership
Furtună criticises the current administration under President Maia Sandu, arguing that Moldova cannot withstand another four years of her leadership. She believes the nation is now on the brink of economic, political, and diplomatic collapse and claims that while President Sandu professes European values, her actions do not reflect them.
A Career Built on Integrity
Victoria Furtună was born on February 24, 1981, in Hâncești, Republic of Moldova. She graduated in 2003 from the Free International University of Moldova with a specialisation in law, and later earned her master’s degree from ULIM.
Her career in the prosecution service began in 2006, working first in the Prosecutor’s Office of Nisporeni district and later in Chișinău’s Botanica sector.
In 2016, she received the “Eminent of the Prosecutor’s Office” badge and was appointed as a prosecutor in the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office. She was considered for the interim Prosecutor General position in 2021.
Her career took a pivotal turn in 2024 when she initiated a criminal investigation into the falsification of public documents, allegedly involving several state institutions in a campaign against judges deemed disloyal to the government.
The Security and Intelligence Service subsequently labeled her a national security threat, prompting her resignation and leading her to establish a non-governmental organization dedicated to defending individuals’ rights in disputes with state bodies.
Throughout her career, Furtună managed high-profile cases involving prominent officials, consistently demonstrating professionalism and legal correctness without incurring any disciplinary actions.
Victoria Furtună’s entry into the presidential race signals a call for change, with her campaign focused on accountability, stability, and the preservation of Moldova’s core values. Her leadership promises to navigate the nation toward a more secure and prosperous future.
