Are you interested in hearing about what former Red Devils Roberto Martinez thought of his time as national team coach – and help raise funds for two worthy causes?

If so, an upcoming event could be just for you.

Martinez, now in charge of the Portuguese national side, is  taking part in a Q&A at St. John’s International School in Waterloo on 30 March and it is the perfect opportunity to quiz him on where you (and he) think the “Golden Generation” came up short – and how he rates their chances in next year’s Euros.

The event is hosted by the school and organized with and for Relay for Life for the international community.The event, at the school’s visual and performance arts centre, is open to the public who will get the chance to ask Martinez questions. Tickets cost €10pp.

Martinez, who is a patron of Relay for Life, will talk about his life, career and future goals.

A “handover” of the role of Relay for Life Patron will take place – with a “surprise guest” taking over.

Relay For Life is a festive event for all ages that focuses on solidarity and fund-raising for the fight against cancer. Over 24 hours, the community members of a city, town or locality mobilise themselves in order to:

– Celebrate and pay tribute to people that have conquered cancer, and support those that are still fighting the disease;

– Remember people that have lost their fight against cancer and support those still fighting the disease;

– Stand united in the fight against cancer.

Monies raised from the event, which starts at 7pm, will also go to providing relief for Turkey & Syria, both recovering from recent devastating earthquakes.

Part of the proceeds will go to the Consortium 12-12 (www.1212.be) which is a team of the seven member organizations who are mobilizing around a common call for donations.

An organiser said, “Working together helps reduce appeal costs, while maximizing the organizations’ ability to respond to humanitarian needs on the ground.”

The seven member organizations are: Carita International, Belgian Red Cross, Handicap International, Doctors of the World, Oxfam Belgium, Plan International Belgium & UNICEF Belgium.
