On International Human Rights Day, the Baloch National Movement (BNM) organised a public demonstration outside the Dutch Parliament, highlighting what the group describes as a long-running and severe human rights crisis in Balochistan, writes Basit Zaheer Baloch.

Members of the Baloch diaspora, human rights activists, and supporters gathered to voice concerns over continued reports of enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and restrictions on fundamental freedoms in the region. Organisers emphasised that these issues have deeply affected families, political workers, and communities across Balochistan for many years.

Speakers at the event included Muheem Abdul Rahim, Zuhra Baloch, Mahra Baloch, and Saif Obaid, who urged the international community to closely monitor the situation and support efforts toward accountability and justice.

Members of the Jeay Sindh Freedom Movement (JSFM) also participated in the demonstration to express solidarity with the Baloch cause. JSFM representatives raised their voices for Sindhu Desh and highlighted what they described as the ongoing oppression of the Sindhi nation. Abdul Sattar Bhatti, speaking on behalf of JSFM, reiterated the shared struggles of both Baloch and Sindhi nations and called for international attention to human rights violations in Sindh.

Protestors held placards reading “Enforced Disappearances,” “Extrajudicial Killings,” “Stop Baloch Genocide,” “Revoke Pakistan GSP+ Status,” and “Stop Human Rights Violations in Balochistan.” They also chanted slogans calling for justice, freedom, and the protection of oppressed communities.

Organisers stressed that global support is vital. According to them, international pressure can help open doors for dialogue, ensure transparency, and strengthen efforts to safeguard fundamental rights in the region.

The demonstration concluded with a unified message: a renewed call for continued global awareness, solidarity, and strong monitoring of human rights conditions in both Balochistan and Sindh. Marking Human Rights Day, participants reaffirmed their appeal for peace, dignity, and protection of fundamental freedoms for all.
