In the ongoing January transfer window, Bayern Munich has reportedly set their sights on acquiring the services of Newcastle United’s right-back, Kieran Trippier.

The Bundesliga champions, led by head coach Thomas Tuchel, are actively seeking reinforcement in this position before the German transfer window closes on February 1st.

Thomas Tuchel expressed his desire for a right-back with strength in duels during a recent public statement, emphasizing the team’s openness to potential acquisitions.

Kieran Trippier has played for England 46 times.

With Noussair Mazraoui participating in the Africa Cup of Nations, Tuchel acknowledged using Konrad Laimer in the right-back position, albeit not his preferred role.

The coach affirmed that if a suitable opportunity arises in the transfer market, Bayern Munich would seize it; otherwise, they would maintain their current lineup.

Having previously pursued Kyle Walker from Manchester City without success, Bayern Munich has now reportedly turned their attention to Kieran Trippier.

Various sources, including Chronicle Live, suggest that the Bundesliga giants have identified Trippier as a viable target for the ongoing January transfer window.

Bayern Munich is purportedly optimistic about convincing Trippier to make the move to Bavaria, where he could reunite with his international teammates Harry Kane and Eric Dier, the latter having recently joined Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur.

Trippier, who joined Newcastle United from Atletico Madrid for approximately £12 million in January 2022, has been a key figure under manager Eddie Howe.

Wearing the captain’s armband in the absence of Jamaal Lascelles, the 33-year-old has made 81 appearances in all competitions, contributing three goals and 18 assists.

Trippier played a crucial role in Newcastle’s achievement of a top-four finish in the Premier League last season, securing qualification for the Champions League, and reaching the EFL Cup final.
