During a press conference on Saturday, Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti refrained from providing any insights regarding the future of experienced midfielder Luka Modric when questioned by the press.

Modric’s current contract with Real Madrid expires at the end of June, and there is widespread speculation that the 38-year-old will conclude his lengthy tenure with the capital club this summer.

Throughout the current season, Modric has maintained a regular presence in the Real Madrid squad, participating in 33 matches across all competitions. During these appearances, he has scored twice and contributed six assists.

However, in La Liga specifically, Modric has been featured in the starting lineup only 12 times this season, as competition for positions in the midfield has necessitated a reduced role for the Croatian international.

Reports suggest that Modric has attracted interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia.

Nonetheless, Ancelotti declined to engage in discussions concerning the midfielder’s future, emphasizing the team’s focus on the ongoing season during the media briefing preceding Sunday’s encounter with Athletic Bilbao.

“Everyone is talking about the next season except us. Luka is in this season. The future of the individual and the club, we are going to make the decisions when the season ends because we have time to do so,” Ancelotti conveyed to reporters at the press conference.

“I don’t think anyone is interested now in talking about his future.

“The feeling I have is that I see Modric very well, ready to fight at the beginning of the season. We plan to finish the season well. This month is very important and we are in an optimal position to get the best out of ourselves.”

Modric’s tenure at Real Madrid commenced with his transfer from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2012, establishing himself as an integral figure in the club’s achievements in recent years.

Over the course of his tenure, the midfielder has amassed 521 appearances for Los Blancos across various competitions, contributing 39 goals and 84 assists.

His contributions have played a pivotal role in Real Madrid securing three La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey trophies, and five UEFA Champions League triumphs.
